To celebrate the release of DRONES #2, I’ve decided to share this previously confidential Battle Damage Assessment of the strike in issue #1. Please don’t let this sensitive information fall into the wrong hands.

It’s all in the hours, yo

Hey folks,

As we get closer to hitting our funding goal for Mixmancer, I’ve started putting together all my scripts for the “Script Selector” reward level. This will feature the script for Mixmancer, as well as at least 7 others that I’ve written over the last 7 years.

I just finished reformatting one from 2008, and it gave me quite a laugh. Chris Lewis ca. 2008 was waaaay into hitting the return key to get to the next page of the document. He also like using captions. A lot. I decided to reformat it to make it look (and read) like my current scripts, but I haven’t changed any dialogue or panel descriptions in order to make it look like I knew what I was doing back then. Because, really, I didn’t. The story, Little Earth People, was the first miniseries I wrote. A slightly altered version also saw the light of day in 2009 as part of DC’s Zuda competition. Check out that Joe Pekar art!

It would take hundreds of more hours at the computer before I would get to the point of being able to write something like Mixmancer, or my book Drones that is coming out in April via IDW and Comics Experience. Sometime in the intervening years I also figured out how to add page breaks.

In addition to LEP, you’ll see my script for the Intro To Comics Writing course from Comics Experience. That will take us to some Azkaban fan fiction that was also developed as part of the Comics Experience Creators Workshop (and which still cracks me up). Then it’s time for the first issue of Drones, the short story I contributed to the psychedelic Imaginary Drugs anthology (IDW), and two current projects I’m incredibly proud of.

Looking at these scripts, I realize they tell the story of my development as a writer. Sharing and remixing stories is at the heart of Mixmancer, and I’m excited to share this one with you.

Bro-hugs to all,

And now…Thought Bubble

Hi all,

It’s been a wild few months. The Drones Kickstarter was successful and we’re now in the fulfillment phase. The amazing Carlos Trigo and I are almost finished with a 24-page one shot entitled Mixmancer. I’m also developing four other projects with artists whose work I’ve drooled over in many public places.

I’m also overjoyed to be heading to the wonderful Thought Bubble next week! I visited this show last year and was blown away by the atmosphere and dedicated fans. This year I’m exhibiting, and it will be the first time that the Drones tpb will be available to the public. If you’re going to attend, come by New Dock Hall, table #46, and say hello. I’ll also have some beautiful A3 prints, and there might even be some freebies for the first people to swing by.

See you there!Chris

It’s Villalobos Time

Just received this amazing image from the extremely talented Ramon Villalobos. What a nice guy to work with! There’s a funny story behind this picture. Remind me to tell it to you some time (tease)!

The pencils for DRONES #4 are now finished! Here’s a preview of Bruno’s beautifully insidious cover. Or is it insidiously beautiful? I don’t know. While I’m doing the research you can check out DRONES 1-3 for free right here. My favorite page from issue three just went live today. It’s a real hootenanny! Let me know what you think via Facebook, Twitter, or at chris (at) epigamics (dot) com. Thanks!Screen Shot 2013-04-05 at 12.45.40 PM

Drones #3

DRONES-03-ltrd-page-1-smallOk. It was late, I was tired, and I just wanted to spread the word that Drones #3 was finally finished and available for digital download. So what did I do? I posted a shabby little screen shot and a link. I know, I know. After all the hours spent to get to this point. After more than a year of rewrites, redraws, retries, replies. After blood has literally been spilled on these pages…

I post a screen shot. And a link.

When Drones #3 deserves a party.

I mean, seriously, have you seen a better cover this month? Between Bruno’s deceptively spoiler-ish artwork and E.T. Dollman’s color choice for the logo, I think it’s our best design yet. Well, at least the best cover we’ve made public. The cover to issue four makes this thing look like sloppy joe.

What else is there to celebrate?

How about Wahad’s new suit? New suit

Bob’s banana?

 This epic stare down?

You know who

Another beautiful pinup by our very own Cabral?

Smokin’ Huqtar by Joe Lalich?

(Ok, I’m still using screenshots. Big deal. Get the digital release here if you want the big goodness.)

So, you see, there was much more to share than my original post. I hope you now have a better idea of all the love the Drones team has put into this book. If you want to support us, please check out where we’ll be posting one page each day until the story is complete! For those of you who absolutely must. have. Drones. now. please download issues 1-3 over at DriveThruComics.

Thanks for reading.

Oh. Bruno just sent me some pages from issue four. It’s going to look like this:

Issue 4

I’m excited…
