Hip-Hop meets Sci-Fi in the greatest mashup since The Grey Album! Written by Chris Lewis. Art by Carlos Trigo. Colors by Andrew Crossley. Letters by Nic Shaw. Edits by Yannick Morin.
MIXMANCER is a 24-page one-shot about a superhero DJ who hunts down a memoir-gone-wrong to a local bookstore. There, he must remix pop-culture in order to fight an extra-dimensional thought-virus, spiky pink tentacles, and self-help fundamentalists!
We are bringing MIXMANCER to Kickstarter because, frankly, there is no better way to distribute a book that has been described (by no one) as a Swamp Thing / Kurt Vonnegut lovechild. For only $2 you can witness the birth of a new pop-culture avatar, humanity’s last hope in its battle against cultural stagnation and the same old story you’ve heard a million times before.
The campaign will launch on January 19th, so please help spread the word. The more backers we have at the beginning, the higher our visibility will be on Kickstarter. This will obviously increase the chances that other readers will make their way to the Mixmancer mashup.
As we approach the launch date, I’ll be posting more information about the various reward levels here and at mixmancer.tumblr.com, as well as sneak peeks of the artwork. Speaking of, here’s a look at Tony Gregori and Jasen Smith’s lovely MIXMANCER pinup.
Good news, folks. DRONES is coming to a comic store near you! As recently announced by Multiversity Comics, DRONES will be one of four books to be released by the new Comics Experience / IDW publishing alliance. I’m incredibly proud to be alongside fellow CE members Rich Douek, Paul Allor, and Rob Anderson, as well as all the fantastic artists involved. More information, including shipping date and pre-order codes, coming soon!
This is it! After two years of hard work, we are finally done with DRONES! The next step is to print the tpb, or, trade paperback for you non-geeks out there. But in order to do this we are asking for your help! Our goal is to raise $3000 to cover the printing and shipping costs, and we are offering plenty of snazzy rewards in return for your support. So head on over to Kickstarter, watch the video, look at the pretty pictures, check out the reward levels, and please help us out however you can. Remember, even if you’d rather not spend your hard earned monies on the book, every little share, like, and tweet will help us out. Thank you!
I won’t, mystery fan! Drones #3 just needs a few days to warm up and stretch its muscles. We’ll be back this weekend with new pages, and the plan is to update twice a week for this issue. Sorry for the changes, but issue four needs a bit more work. We don’t want to rush through issue three just to completely shut down this ABSOLUTELY FREE COMIC if #4 isn’t finished in time.
Watch out for drones overhead, and come back this weekend for issue three. Here’s a sneak preview of something we’re really proud of:
Ok. It was late, I was tired, and I just wanted to spread the word that Drones #3 was finally finished and available for digital download. So what did I do? I posted a shabby little screen shot and a link. I know, I know. After all the hours spent to get to this point. After more than a year of rewrites, redraws, retries, replies. After blood has literally been spilled on these pages…
I post a screen shot. And a link.
When Drones #3 deserves a party.
I mean, seriously, have you seen a better cover this month? Between Bruno’s deceptively spoiler-ish artwork and E.T. Dollman’s color choice for the logo, I think it’s our best design yet. Well, at least the best cover we’ve made public. The cover to issue four makes this thing look like sloppy joe.
What else is there to celebrate?
How about Wahad’s new suit?
This epic stare down?
Another beautiful pinup by our very own Cabral?
Smokin’ Huqtar by Joe Lalich?
(Ok, I’m still using screenshots. Big deal. Get the digital release here if you want the big goodness.)
So, you see, there was much more to share than my original post. I hope you now have a better idea of all the love the Drones team has put into this book. If you want to support us, please check out www.dronescomic.com where we’ll be posting one page each day until the story is complete! For those of you who absolutely must. have. Drones. now. please download issues 1-3 over at DriveThruComics.
Thanks for reading.
Oh. Bruno just sent me some pages from issue four. It’s going to look like this:
